Explore the multi-billion dollar secret of the Rionegro Project through this deep dive into its NI 43-101 technical report, VALMIN evaluation of license JG3-16392, and the untapped gold potential of Mina Guayos. This video analyzes disseminated gold mineralization within a complex horst-graben structural framework of the Colombian Andes, specifically examining high-value mining rejects and the role of modern machine learning for exploration in the Santander Massif. The Rionegro region represents a major new gold frontier characterized by a unique sedimentary-magmatic evolution starting from a Proterozoic metamorphic basement and transitioning into a Jurassic marine basin that persisted through the Tertiary (Sarmiento-Rojas et al., 2006; Zuluaga & Lopez, 2019).
Our structural analysis highlights the significant influence of the Bucaramanga-Santa Marta Fault on this horst-graben system, which has served as a critical watershed for both active and paleoplacer deposits (Galkin et al., 2025; Royero & Clavijo, 2001). A groundbreaking SGS mineralogical study reveals that a substantial portion of the resource is encapsulated within magnetite grains, with metallurgical testing proving a 97% recovery rate using specialized processing technologies (SGS Canada Inc., 2024; Valls et al., 2025). Economic valuations for license JG3-16392, utilizing the Geologic-Economic Factors Method, identify measured resources of 1.3 Mt with an estimated commercial value exceeding US$3 billion based on current gold prices (Cruz Martin, 2025; Valls et al., 2020). We also discuss how the integration of machine learning and lineament density mapping can optimize target generation for both paleoplacers and primary sources like tonalite intrusives and bituminous-rich limestones (Caté, 2019; Rodriguez et al., 2010). This comprehensive review provides junior and senior geologists with advanced insights into ore prospecting, geochemistry, and tectonic evolution in one of South America's most promising mining districts.
