The document introduces a gradient-based method for identifying geochemical anomalies, particularly useful in gold exploration. Traditional geochemistry faces challenges, such as distinguishing low gold values caused by either the absence of mineralization or technical limitations. This method emphasizes gradients—differences between sample values—over absolute sample values, enabling more effective anomaly identification. Using Excel, the method determines gradients between sampling points and visualizes data through stacked column graphs, highlighting prospective areas.
Three models are examined: theoretical (central anomaly), shifted anomaly, and real data from a Colombian gold target. Each demonstrates how gradient visualization identifies anomalous zones, with absolute gradients enhancing clarity. The approach is further refined by amplifying gradients (2x analysis) to pinpoint key targets. This simple yet powerful tool, combining original and absolute gradients, provides a quick and accessible way to locate spatially significant geochemical anomalies, streamlining the exploration process.
