We evaluate the potential for paleoplacer deposits, Carlin-type gold within the La Luna Formation, and Witwatersrand-type gold systems while discussing the influence of Tertiary tonalite and magnetite-hosted gold on Andean metallogeny (Valls Álvarez, 2026). Located at the structural transition between the Middle Magdalena Valley and the Eastern Cordillera, this project area reflects a complex tectonic history driven by Caribbean Plate convergence (Alicanto Mining Corp., 2025a; Valls Álvarez, 2026, Fig. 1). Through advanced gold exploration and automated mineralogical techniques, we identify a diverse heavy mineral suite including Rare Earth Elements (REE) found in monazite, alongside cassiterite, zircon, and PGM (Valls Álvarez, 2026). Quantitative data shows that while 78.7% of gold minerals are liberated, significant magnetite-hosted gold remains encapsulated, offering new insights for gold mining Colombia (SGS, 2024; Valls Álvarez, 2026, Fig. 2). By integrating Santander geology with datasets from Alicanto Mining Corp, this investigation redefines exploration strategies for discovering concealed, large-scale lode gold and polymetallic targets at depth (Valls Álvarez, 2026).
