๐ Archaeologists just uncovered ancient Roman gold mines hidden in Spain’s Pyrenees for nearly 1,700 years!
In this video, we explore the groundbreaking discovery at Guilleteres d’All in the Eastern Pyrenees. Researchers from the Autonomous University of Barcelona used advanced Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) dating to prove that Roman engineers were actively mining alluvial gold using sophisticated hydraulic systems during the 3rd and 4th centuries CE.
Located just 10 km from the Roman city of Iulia Livica (modern Llรญvia), these mines reveal how the Romans extracted gold from river terraces by channeling powerful water flows — a technique that literally moved mountains.
From ancient legends of Segre River gold mentioned in Islamic sources to hard scientific evidence, this discovery is rewriting our understanding of Roman mining in mountainous regions.
If you love ancient history, archaeology, and lost treasures, this is a must-watch!
