This text describes the recent discovery of the Nadir Crater, a large impact crater located on the Atlantic Ocean floor. The crater was formed by a significant asteroid impact that occurred around 66 million years ago, coinciding with the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction event, also known as the time when the dinosaurs died out. While the Chicxulub impact is generally considered the primary cause of this mass extinction, the Nadir impact may have played a crucial role in intensifying the event's devastating effects. This discovery underscores the potential for multiple asteroid impacts to contribute to global extinction events, highlighting the importance of ongoing research into Earth's history and the threat posed by near-Earth objects.
