Geochemistry is a field that deals with the chemical composition of the Earth and its components. When studying geochemical data, researchers often encounter what is known as compositional data. This type of data is characterized by its relative values, such as weight percentages or parts per million, and the fact that these values sum up to a constant total, like 100% or 1,000,000 ppm. This inherent characteristic of geochemical data necessitates a specialized approach to analysis, known as Compositional Data Analysis.
