This paper covers the fundamentals of geochemical data interpretation, organic geochemistry, source rock analysis, elemental analysis, and isotopic analysis. It dives into the importance of source rock evaluation, kerogen analysis, and Total Organic Carbon (TOC) content determination in relation to the potential for hydrocarbon generation and accumulation. Also, it addresses the significance of geochemical biomarkers in source rock identification and their contributions to our understanding of hydrocarbon resources. By understanding the fundamentals of geochemical data analysis, hydrocarbon exploration can be properly and efficiently undertaken.
